The Case of the Mysterious Chirp
The past few days one of our smoke alarms started doing that low-battery chirp every 90 seconds. I didn’t have time to deal with it until today.
Took down the smoke alarm closest to where the chirp was coming from. It was hard wired with a sealed non-replaceable battery. So that wasn’t it.
I looked around the basement and found a carbon monoxide detector but that didn’t have a battery in it so that wasn’t it.
Woooo it’s Superbowl day. Go Red team!
@fugularity It’s the code for my web dev business related to computers or something
@jahlherapath @kevintwohy Ask people what problems they’re running into and find things you think you can solve for them
Pitch existing clients on things to make their business better and how you can add more value
Ask existing clients if they know of anyone else that might need your help
@jchangsta @kevintwohy Now that you have your hourly rate you can narrow in on what to charge. “I think this will take 8 hours of work at $100/hour so I’ll bill this at $800”
When estimating tasks I use 4 hour increments (half a normal day)
And always add some buffer because estimating is hard
@jchangsta @kevintwohy Figure out how much you want to land in your bank account each year. Add your expected business expenses (computer, software, online services etc.). Divide that by the number of hours you want to work in a year (2,000 hours = 40 hours a week for 50 weeks, aka 10 days of vacay)
@kingkool68 Yes also notepad.
Oatmeal cookies = gross

@Rmmmsy I’m trying to think of lyrics for a JavaScript rap to this
@Rmmmsy I know I’m just giving you a hard time
@Rmmmsy Wait… Wait… Wait… Holdup… One sec… This here smells like a side project!
@andycheatwood You should have asked for a bowl of soup and said “HOLD THE FLIES”
@plugish @enqueue_russ That’s a mighty kind offer. I know my way around PHP github.com/kingkool68/wordpress-…
As a Dev, I’m trying to see if there are other projects out there instead of writing my own everytime.
@BaseballHer @fugularity I don’t really like the taste.
@fugularity @BaseballHer Correct! You know me so well
@MikeNGarrett No prob. Happen to share how I work when someone else can relate.
I wrote about my unexpected odyssey into the heart of high-performance figerboarding subculture for @outline. With stops in San Diego, Salt Lake City, and rural Bavaria. theoutline.com/post/8614/my-jour…
@ninjaforms @enqueue_russ @GiveWP @gravityforms @easywpforms I want full control of the HTML of the form but don’t want to mess with storing it and processing it in WordPress. Does that make sense?
