So yea… voice interfaces are neat and full of potential but there are a ways to go before we get a truly smart home.

I can raise or lower my thermostat with my voice. But I never change the temperature of my thermostat. Snooze…

Other devices want to charge a monthly fee to work with Google Assistant. Forget that!

It’s less about controlling things but more about being able to ask them questions and query information.

It’s main function is so I can ask it about the weather. But I wish more things in my house could talk to it.

I got a Google Home mini for Christmas and have been asking all sorts of random questions.

@JoAnnStilley Zadie got an iPad too. It’s really confusing to set up. Took me 20 minutes to get the 3 year old to sit still to calibrate the fingerprint reader. Not sure she gets how to use it to log in.

Got the nearly 3 year old her own iPad for Christmas and holy hell Apple sucks at on boarding. So passcodes, iCloud passwords, some iCloud pin that I have no idea what it is, legalese, slow. I thought they were good at this.
