TFW Mueller didn’t find evidence of a conspiracy but at least he capitalized the P in WordPress.
The body of your commit message is for the “why”.
INCLUDE THE WHY.
PLEASE ALWAYS INCLUDE THE WHY.
I CAN READ YOUR CODE I NEED TO KNOW WHY YOU DID THAT.
I NEED TO KNOW WHY I DID THAT.
PLEASE TAKE MERCY ON ME, PAST SELF. I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY I MADE THESE CHOICES.
One disturbing constant in web development is that as network connections and devices improve in speed and quality, we will inevitably eat those gains by shipping more crap in our apps people never asked for.
I’ve been involved in DevTools dev for years, and I’ve both had and heard many good ideas to improve it.
It’s always a special feeling seeing on of them finally take shape.

Fear of deploys is the ultimate technical debt. How much time do you waste

* batching up changes into big changes that are decidedly unsafe to deploy,
* waiting to get paged and fretting over deploys,
* cleaning up terrible catastrophuckes

Fuck Alzheimer’s Disease and everything about it. I wish we’d be talking more about how tech is going to help beat this instead of self driving cars, rockets to other planets, or fucking blockchains
I asked a dev I met a few years ago at the airport what advice he had for aspiring programmers.
He said, first stop calling yourself ‘aspiring.’ That implies you aren’t something but hopefully will be someday. It undermines your self-esteem.
If you program, you’re a programmer.
