So @lyft is paying $8m/mo to @AWS — almost $100m/yr! Each ride costs $.14 in AWS rent. I keep hearing they could build their own DC & save. My early days at @Google cloud, heard the same from customers: “at scale, owning is cheaper”. It wasn’t – they all came around. Here’s why:

I’ve been using SmartGit (syntevo.com/smartgit/) since forever but I think I’m going to start using @sourcetree now for a Git GUI.

Spent the day getting dotfiles setup github.com/kingkool68/dotfiles which is basically a fork of @mathias that everyone seems to do.

My favorite tweak is github.com/kingkool68/dotfiles/b… for SSH auto completion.

So we started running an experiment on my team a couple of months ago where design docs are checked into a repo and reviewed as a PR instead of done in a word doc and stored on a sharepoint or wiki. This was inspired by @github process, and I have to say I love it.
